Suture Packaging"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-container-3 wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-container-1 wp-block-column\">\n<h2>Suture Packaging<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"h5p-iframe-wrapper\"><iframe id=\"h5p-iframe-9\" class=\"h5p-iframe\" data-content-id=\"9\" style=\"height:1px\" src=\"about:blank\" frameBorder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" title=\"Module 3: Suture Packaging\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-2 wp-block-column\">\n<ol><li> Suture packing consists of an inner package, either moist or dry depending on the suture, which is then placed inside an outer peel-pack and sterilized for easy dispensing to the sterile field.   <\/li><li>If the outer package integrity is maintained, the sterility remains intact.   <\/li><li>Suture packing also comes with an expiration date that refers to the stability of the sterility.   <\/li><li>Suture reels are needleless sutures that are packaged in multiple strands and in reels to be used as free ties.   <\/li><li>Sutures can come in single or multipacks.   <\/li><li>Double-armed sutures have a needle at each end of the suture. These are typically used in vascular sutures or anastomosis.   <\/li><li>Suture packages can be colour coded which allows for quicker identification of different suture materials.   <\/li><\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5>Size and Shape of Needle<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Surgical needles come in many different shapes and sizes. These saw blades are power-driven by electricity, batteries, compressed <a id=\"post-283-_Int_flRDQzFX\"><\/a>air, or nitrogen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These blades are sharp as their main objective is to cut bone by either a reciprocating, cutting action from front to back, or an oscillating, cutting action from side to side. Saw blades are disposable but the power instruments they are attached to are reusable<a id=\"post-283-_Int_1SU185Zf\"><\/a>. Precaution must be taken to ensure the safety mechanism is on to prevent accidental activation of power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saw blades come in a variety of shapes, <a id=\"post-283-_Int_nkpL3igo\"><\/a>lengths, and widths. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Phillips, 2017) <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-16 wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-container-14 wp-block-column\">\n<h5>Other Sharps: Injection Needles<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Hypodermic needles are other sharps that can be found on the sterile field. These needles are used to administer medication<a id=\"post-283-_Int_wTzY2BTi\"><\/a>. Hypodermic needles come with a plastic cap that should remain on the needle until it is required. To help avoid any injuries, blades should be opened and placed in a consistent location for the scrub and circulating nurses.
